Roger covers Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) issuers in various capacities including pre-launch structuring, ongoing distribution, and trade execution. In addition, Roger covers a growing client base of institutional investors using ETFs. Roger is on the Equity Index Analytics team which publishes regularly and enhances NBF coverage of Canadian ETF and index fund managers. Roger joined NBF in 2010 working on various Equity Derivative products until focusing primarily on helping build National Bank’s ETF offering. He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
Elmer is responsible for the Canadian ETF trading business at RBC. Mr. Atagu has been an ETF market marker since 2018 and was a cross-asset macro strategist prior to trading ETFs. He holds a master’s degree in mathematical finance and a bachelor of electrical engineering.
David Cheng joined BMO Capital Markets in 2016 as a quantitative and technical Research Associate. He was promoted to analyst in 2021, covering ETF and single equity research. David provides customized portfolio construction screens for the purpose of detecting shifts in investment themes and identifying suitable rotational opportunities. David has a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Morley joined Scotiabank in 1997 and has held increasingly senior sales and trading roles in Equities, Money Markets and Foreign Exchange. Morley was appointed Director, North American Equity Hybrid Sales and Trading in November 2019 after building the Canadian Equity Hybrids Group (convertible debentures and preferred shares) into a leader in the Canadian capital markets. In 2022, he joined the ETF Services team to build the Bank’s coverage of this dynamic and growing product.
Morley is a graduate of the MBA Co-op Program at the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder and a member of the Toronto CFA Society. He is an active board member of the Institutional Equity Traders Association of Toronto and proudly serves as a volunteer in the Out of the Cold program run out St. Andrew’s Church in Toronto.
Daniela is an associate on Scotiabank’s ETF Services team, where she is responsible for ETF publications, research, and client relationships. Daniela is an alum of Scotiabank’s Capital Markets Rotational Program, having the opportunity to rotate through a variety of teams, including Sustainable Finance and ETF Services. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Daniela worked as an investment advisor in Mexico for a number of years, managing clients portfolios by investing across various asset classes and investment instruments. Daniela holds a BA in Finance from ITESM (Mexico) and an MBA from Schulich School of Business.
Jing joined the Global Equity Derivatives desk at BMO Capital Markets in 2010 and has since held roles in trading, market making, institutional sales, and product issuance for all Canadian ETFs. Currently, her primary role is to engage with all ETF issuers in bringing new product to market, and manage relationships as they span across various lines of business within capital markets.
Patrick is Co-Head of Institutional Sales for ETFs, Portfolio Trading, Electronic Trading, and Equity Derivatives. He also heads up the Electronic Trading & Services group, which offers DEA and algorithmic trading strategies to institutional clients. He has over 25 years of trading experience.
Prior to NBF, he was with ITG Canada as a Director in their electronic brokerage group and headed up their Commission Management Services. He spent his formative years in Montreal at boutique global investment dealer Pavilion Global Markets where, as the Head of North American Equity Trading, he was instrumental in developing their portfolio trading capabilities in both Canada and the U.S.
He has been actively involved in shaping the Canadian regulatory environment through regular participation in industry comment letters and contributions to advisory committees like MSAC, MRAC, and as current co-chair of the CSTA’s Trading Issues Committee. He is a sitting member of NBF’s Best Execution Committee, which is mandated to ensure best practices in trading for all NBF client flow.
Patrick is a CFA and went to most of his classes at the University of Western Ontario.
Markus is the lead ETF trader within the Automated Market Making team at CIBC Capital Markets. He has 18 years of international capital markets and asset management experience which he has gained through working in fixed income trading and portfolio management roles at a variety of financial institutions spanning New York City, London, Frankfurt, and Toronto. Prior to CIBC Mr.Otema was at Grayhawk, a Canadian- based multi-family office where he was a portfolio manager. Previously, he was a fixed income portfolio manager at BMO GAM, a partner at Algonquin Capital, and a market maker of European government bonds at Jefferies and Desdner/Commerzbank.
Alex Perel joined Scotiabank in 2017 as Director and Head of ETF Services. In this role, Alex leads Scotiabank’s ETF market-making and client facilitation activities in Canada. Prior to joining Scotiabank Alex led the ETF market making desk at another Canadian financial institution where he developed an expertise in Canadian equity market microstructure and regulatory affairs. He brings a comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian ETF landscape from the perspective of investors, fund sponsors and intermediaries. Alex graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelors of Mathematics degree, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a past Chair of the Canadian Security Trader Association.
Bipan Rai joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2024 and currently serves as Head of ETF Strategy. He is responsible for delivering strategic research for the ETF and Structured Solutions team. He is highly regarded for his macroeconomic insights as well as his knowledge of market structure for various asset classes.
Mr. Rai‘s focus is on fundamental macro research and the implications for the ETF space. That includes economic, monetary and fiscal policy analysis alongside following developments in the funding and liquidity spaces. With his experience and capabilities, Bipan brings the existing and potential market environment into context for investors and where BMO GAM ETFs can bring value to everyone’s investment requirements in the near, medium and long term.
Prior to joining BMO GAM, Mr. Rai spent 13 years as a top-ranked strategist at a large Canadian dealer. He has won several awards for his research from various publications (Greenwich Survey, Bloomberg) and is a regular contributor to global business media outlets (BNN/Bloomberg, CNBC, WSJ). Mr. Rai holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Aerospace Engineering) from Toronto Metropolitan University.
Mr. Rashid covers institutional clients on the ETF Sales and Strategy desk at TD Securities. Mr. Rashid advises pensions, asset allocation teams and family offices on ETF strategies, publishes a broad array of ETF publications, and works with TD's ETF market making team in facilitating ETF orders. He joined TD Securities in 2021, and previously held various ETF roles at Invesco, a global investment manager. Hussein has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Toronto and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Andres Rincon is responsible for ETF and options strategy at TD Securities. Mr. Rincon advises both institutional and wealth investors on ETF and option strategies. Andres joined TD Securities in 2008, first managing credit risk for the dealer, and later as a member of the Equity Derivatives division. After four years leading equity derivatives sales and research in London, England, Andres moved back to Toronto. In 2016 Andres took on the task of expanding TD Securities’ ETF strategy platform. He is also a Chartered Market Technician (CMT).
